FirstNet in Kentucky

The FirstNet planning effort in Kentucky is actively engaging the Commonwealth’s First Responder community to inform and educate local jurisdictions about the National Public Safety Broadband Network (NPSBN) – a new nationwide public safety wireless broadband network for First Responders to be built across the country to improve emergency response and save lives.

The Kentucky State Police (KSP) is leading the effort in the Commonwealth and is working with the Kentucky Wireless Interoperability Executive Committee (KWIEC) and the Public Safety Broadband Working Group (PSBWG). Planning activities across the State include outreach and education to the public safety community along with the collection of local data and information needed to build the NPSBN.
